Reliance Jio and Samsung Joint Press Conference scheduled for Feb 28 at MWC 2017
Reliance Jio in India and Samsung today announced a joint press event scheduled for February 28th at MWC 2017 in Barcelona. According to the media invite by Samsung, this press conference is meant for industry insights and discussions between the two partners. We may also see the launch of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones in India launch at the event as well which might be available exclusively via Reliance Jio outlets. The conference will be held in conference room 2 of the Media Village (CC4) in Barcelona at 8:45 AM CET.
According to Samsung, this media conference is to foster engagement and participation among industry leaders, governments and communities by discussing Jio’s successful 4G LTE business and how it has transformed the everyday lives of the 1.3 billion Indians. Samsung was the first amongst the other companies in India to partner with Jio offering free Jio SIM with a wide range of Reliance smartphones in the LYF brand and offering free data, calls and several free Jio apps till March 2017. The invite by Samsung also confirms that the President of Jio Mr. Jyotindra Thacker and Youngky Kim, President Head of the Networks Business Samsung Electronics will host the event at the MWC 2017 event. The company may release the Galaxy S series flagships at the event including the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge.
The rumoured specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone include 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch QHD AMOLED display variants and it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor or Samsung’s own Exynos processor that will be region based. It is expected to have 4GB/6GB of RAM with 64GB/128GB internal storage and expandable storage through a MicroSD card slot. It will run on the Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box and will be at the rear side we can expect a 12-megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture and an 8-megapixel is expected at the front panel of the device with f/1.7 aperture. The device will have a 3000mAh battery with the 5.8-inch variant while the 6.2-inch variant will have a 3500mAh battery according to the rumours. The Galaxy S8 will be water resistant, a fingerprint scanner will be available on the rear panel and will feature a full metal body.
