Moto G5 and G5 Plus announced at MWC 2017 with Android 7.0 Nougat

At MWC 2017, Motorola launched two new budgeted smartphones and the successors to last year’s Moto G4 and G4 Plus with the names Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. Both the new Moto G series flagships come with upgraded specifications from the Moto G4 and G4 Plus. Both come with Lunar Gray and Fine Gold colour options and come with a metal unibody design and water-repellent nano-coating.

For pricing, the smaller Moto G5 with 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage is priced at 199 Euros (around $210). The bigger Moto G5 Plus with 2GB RAM+32GB inbuilt storage is priced at $229 while the 3GB RAM+32GB inbuilt storage variant is priced at 279 Euros (around $294). A top-end 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage will be available soon in select markets and these flagships will be available starting in March in countries like Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific and North America.

Moto G5 and G5 Plus specs

The Moto G5 comes with a 5-inch full-HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 430 (MSM8937) processor with Adreno 505 GPU. It has 2GB / 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage and MicroSD card expandable storage up to 128 GB. It runs on the Android 7.0 (Nougat) OS out of the box and supports dual-SIM.

It features a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, 1080p video recording and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with OmniVision OV5693 sensor. It is backed up by a 2800mAh battery with 10W rapid charging and 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS connectivity options. It measures 144.3x73x9.5 mm and weighs 144.5 grams. It comes with water-repellent nano-coating and a front-ported loudspeaker. A fingerprint scanner is available on the physical home button.

The bigger Moto G5 Plus features a 5.2-inch full-HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. It has 2GB/ 3GB RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage. Both come with MicroSD card expandable storage up to 128 GB. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box and we have a Dual-SIM option as well.

It measures 150.2x74x7.9 mm and weighs 155 grams. A fingerprint scanner is available on the physical home button. It comes with water-repellent nano-coating and a front-ported loudspeaker.
