Honor China announces May 23 event, Honor 9 expected

After we saw the leaked teaser for the Honor 9 launch in Europe, Honor China has now started sending press invites for its upcoming event scheduled for May 23 in China where the company may launch the flagship Honor 9 before its European launch on June 27. Previous rumours indicated that Honor 9 would be launched on June 20 or June 21 but looks like the company is going to launch it one month earlier than expected.

The teaser issued by Honor China comes with a student that is divided half between a football field and a classroom and the Chinese text in the teaser says “4 new devices, built for fun and party” which hints towards the launch of four new Honor devices in the event. The company will hold the official event on June 27th in Berlin, Germany, a month after the event in China.

Honor China to launch Honor 9 soon

As we previously discussed, the Honor 9 is rumoured to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack that will be replaced by a USB Type-C port and it will feature a dual rear camera with Dual LED flash as per the rumours. According to the leaked images of the device in the past, the Honor 9 is expected to have a physical home button with a fingerprint scanner embedded in it.

It will feature a 5.2-inch full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and will be powered by the Kirin 960 processor. It will have 4GB or 6GB of RAM with 32GB or 64GB of inbuilt storage capacity that will be expandable via a MicroSD card up to 128 GB.

The Huawei Honor 9 will feature a dual rear camera with 20-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual camera sensors for enhanced high-quality images. An 8-megapixel front-facing camera is also expected with the phone. It will be backed up by an upgraded battery from the Honor 8 but the size of the battery is unknown currently. The Honor 9 is expected to be priced around €399 just like the predecessor in Europe. The global pricing details and other details about the device are currently unknown for the upcoming flagship.

The Honor 6A is also expected to launch in the May 23 event. The Honor 6A will feature a full metal body with a 5-inch HD display having 720p resolution. It will be powered by a 1.4 GHz octa-core processor. It will have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage capacity that will be expandable with the help of a microSD card expansion slot.

It will feature a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front camera. It will be backed up by a 2920 mAh battery and will also feature a fingerprint sensor at the back. It will run on the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with a dual-SIM slot. It will be priced at around 699 Yuan (around $102) in China. No details are available about its global pricing and availability details.
