Xiaomi to launch Mi Max 2 on May 25

Xiaomi has finally confirmed that it will launch the successor to the last year’s Xiaomi Mi Max with the name Xiaomi Mi Max 2 on May 25th in China. The latest teaser from the company on the weibo account confirms the launch of the Mi Max 2 and the teaser also confirms that the founder of Xiaomi Lei Jun will be announcing the Mi Max 2 along with some other guests. A dedicated web page is also launched by the company on their official website confirming the launch. The Mi Max 2 is expected to launch with an even bigger display thatn 6-inches and will also have a massive 5000 mAh battery. The upcoming device is yet to make its appearance at TENAA that will give us more details about this device.

According to the rumors, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will feature a 6.44-inch Full HD IPS 2.5D curved glass display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and is expected to come with two variants with one powered by the Snapdragon 626 with Adreno 506 GPU having 4GB of RAM and the other getting powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC along with 6GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 626 variant is expected to be priced around CNY 1,499 (around $218) while the Snapdragon 660 variant is expected to be priced around CNY 1,699(around $247). It is expected to run on the MIUI 8 based on Android 7.1 (Nougat) and will support Hybrid dual-SIMs.

It will feature a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX378 sensor and a dual-tone LED flash and will also feature a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It is expected to be backed up by a 5000mAh battery and is expected to support 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4 / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS connectivity options. A fingerprint scanner is also expected to be available on the rear panel. The company is also rumored to launch a high-end 128GB inbuilt storage variant but more details about this variant are currently unknown.

To recall, the Xiaomi Mi Max was launched last year with a 6.44-inch Full HD IPS 2.5D curved glass display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and 72% NTSC color gamut. It is powered by the hexa-core Snapdragon 650 / octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor with Adreno 510 GPU and comes with 3GB RAM + 32GB / 64GB storage and 4GB + 128GB storage variants with expandable storage with microSD card. It runs on the MIUI 8 OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and supports Dual SIM. Other features includes full metal unibody design, a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED Flash, PDAF and f/2.0 aperture, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.0 aperture, a large 4850 mAh battery and connectivity options includes 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and GLONASS. A fingerprint sensor is available on the rear side along withan infrared sensor.
