Samsung Galaxy S8 Active FCC approval leaks out the back panel

Samsung’s upcoming Active variant of the flagship Galaxy S8 smartphone Galaxy S8 Active is going to release soon in the US as the device has just received the FCC approval in the US that also confirms that it will be available exclusively via the carrier AT&T in the country. The FCC approval confirms the model number SM-G892A for the device and the documents also comes with back panel view of the device that matches with the previous “Active” variants of the Samsung Galaxy S series flagships. The FCC documents comes with the usual tests with LTE, Bluetooth, WiFi etc but there are no images of the device available in the FCC documents. The leaked back panel shows a AT&T logo at the bottom and also confirms a fingerprint scanner near the camera just like its available on the Galaxy S8.

The Galaxy S8 Active was also spotted listed by the benchmark website GFXBench confirming most of its rumored specifications. It was listed with a 5.4-inches or 5.8-inches full-HD display with 2008 x 1080 pixels resolution and will not have curved edges like the flagship Galaxy S8 pair of phones. It will be powered by the 2.3GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor that also comes with the Adreno 540 GPU. It will have 4Gb of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage capacity that might also be expandable via McroSD card slot. It runs on the Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box and will support Hybrid SIM slot. It features a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front facing camera. No other details about the device were available with the GFXBench listing of the device.

According to the rumors, the Galaxy S8 Active will feature a 5.4-inches full-HD AMOLED display with 2008 x 1080 pixels resolution and will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC or Exynos chipset. It will have 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage capacity that will be expandable up to 256GB via microSD card slot. It will run on the Android 7.1 Nougat OS out of the box and will feature a 12-megapixel rear camera with an 8-megapixel front facing camera. Other details about the device will be available soon with its official launch that might happen anytime in the coming days.

To recall, the Galaxy S7 Active was launched last year with a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with 2560×1440 pixel resolution, Gorilla Glass 4 protection and an added layer of polycarbonate making it shatter-proof smartphone. It has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage capacity with expandable storage capacity via MicroSD card. It runs on Android 6 Marshmallow OS with TouchWiz out of the box. It comes with IP68 certification making it water resistant and dust proof.

It features a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX260 Exmor RS, 1.4μm, f/1.7, PDAF, OIS, auto HDR, object tracking autofocus and LED flash. A 5-megapixel front facingc amera with f/1.7 and auto HDR is also available. It is backed up by a large 4000mAh non-removable battery with wireless charging (WPC 1.1 & PMA 1.0) and Fast Charging features and with a straight jump of 1000 mAh from the Galaxy S7. Connectivity options available are 4G LTE, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2×2 MU-MIMO, BT 4.2, NFC, GPS/GNSS and microUSB 2.0. It has a fingerprint scanner embedded on the physical home button and it measures 148.8 x 75.0 x 9.9 mm and weights 185 grams.
