Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A announced with 4GB RAM, Snapdragon 435 and a 3080mAh battery

Xiaomi has finally announced the new Redmi Note series device Redmi Note 5A in an official event in China but the company hasn’t launched the Redmi Note 5 smartphone in the event for which we may have to wait a bit longer. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A is the successor to the Redmi Note 4A smartphone and it comes with upgraded features and design from its predecessors. As we have seen its TENAA listing, it comes with two variants with different processors and a difference of fingerprint scanner in the design.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A is priced at 699 yuan (around $104) for the Snapdragon 425 variant carrying 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage, the Redmi Note 5A with Snapdragon 435 processor and 3GB of RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage option is priced at 899 yuan (around $134), and at last, the octa-core Snapdragon 435 processor option with 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage is priced at 1199 yuan (around $180). The device will go on sale in China starting August 22nd while there is no information available about its global debut.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A features a metal unibody design and has a 5.5-inch HD display / 2.5D curved glass display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, 450 nits brightness, 1000: 1 Contrast ratio and 70% NTSC color gamut. It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 Mobile Platform with Adreno 308 GPU / Snapdragon 435 with Adreno 505 GPU and comes with 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM + 16GB/32GB/64GB internal storage options with all supporting expandable storage up to 128GB with microSD card.

It runs on the Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) with MIUI 9 and supports Dual SIM with dedicated dual SIM slots. The low end-variant with Snapdragon 425 SoC comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. The high-end variant with Snapdragon 435 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash, OmniVision sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 76.4-degree wide-angle lens.

Both the variant are backed up by a 3080mAh battery and connectivity options includes 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS / GLOASS. The low-end variant doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner but the high-end variant features a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel. Both comes with an infrared sensor and it measures 153× 76.2 × 7.55mm and weights 150 grams.
