Nokia 8 stable Android 8.0 Oreo roll-out beginning soon: HMD Global

Last month, Nokia started the Android 8.0 Oreo beta testing for the Nokia 8 via beta labs where the user have to sign up for the beta testing with their Nokia 8 smartphones and now, the company behind Nokia, HMD Global, has announced that the Android 8.0 beta testing is complete and the stable roll out of Android 8.0 Oreo will begin soon for the Nokia 8 devices across the world. Juho Sarvikas‏, the Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, recently tweeted on his Twitter account, “We have well over 2000 #Nokia8 #nokiamobilebetalabs users! Thank you so much for your passion and great feedback. We’ve listened, we’ve taken action and we will soon roll out official #AndroidOreo release for everyone!” which claims that over 2000 units of Nokia 8 smartphone are testing the Android Oreo software via beta labs and the roll-out of official Android Oreo will begin soon for these devices.

However, he hasn’t shared the exact time frame for the roll-out of the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Nokia 8 devices in his tweet but we can still expect it to roll-out in the next few days. There are no details available when the other Nokia devices like Nokia 2, Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 7 will start receiving this update that will also receive the update via Nokia Beta Labs, obviously, the update will be available for these devices soon after Nokia 8 will start getting it. The Android 8.0 Oreo update will bring several new changes to the Nokia 8 UI and improvements including the redesigned settings menu, new file manager, new background restriction for battery improvements, Snooze individual notifications, new gestures for fingerprint, picture-in-picture mode, new battery menu, Rescue party, adaptive icons, notification badges on home screen and many other useful features as well.

To recall, the Nokia 8 was announced in August with a full aluminium unibody design that is machined from a single block of 6000 series aluminum with polished mirror finish. It comes with a 5.3-inch Quad HD LCD display with 2560×1440 pixels resolution, sculpted Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 700 nits brightness, octa-core Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform with Adreno 540 GPU, 6GB of DDR4X RAM with 128GB (UFS 2.1) internal storage option and 4GB of DDR4X RAM with 64GB (UFS 2.1) internal storage, MicroSD card expandable storage up to 256GB, Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) OS upgradable to Android O, Hybrid Dual SIM, a dual rear camera with a 13-megapixel colour sensor that comes with OIS and a secondary 13-megapixel Mono sensor with ZEISS optics, 1.12um pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, 76.9-degree wide-angle lens, PDAF, IR range finder and dual tone flash.

It comes with a 13-megapixel auto focus front-facing camera with display flash, ZEISS optics, PDAF, a 3090mAh non-removable battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, connectivity options includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (MIMO), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ GLONASS, USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 1 and NFC. It has a fingerprint sensor available on the physical home button on front and also comes with a barometer. It measures 151.5 x 73.7 x 7.9 mm and is Splashproof with IP54 ratings.
