Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ launching on February 27 at MWC 2018: Report

Samsung is all set to launch its next Galaxy S series flagships Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus in an official event at MWC 2018 event according to Korean media reports. The MWC 2018 event is going to take place from February 26 to March 1 in Barcelona where several smartphone makers will show off their new smartphones.

Last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in March end after the MWC 2018 event due to some issues, but this time the Korean giant might launch it at the official MWC 2018 Galaxy Unpacked event on February 27th. Some reports from Korean event says that Samsung is looking to show off the Galaxy S9 and S9+ before the MWC event but as the Galaxy s8 and S8+ are selling well against iPhone flagships, there is no need for the company to launch its new flagships before MWC.

Samsung has still not confirmed the Korean media reports and hasn’t commented yet but we can expect that the new Galaxy S series flagships might be unveiled at the MWC 2018. Korean media has also published an image that confirms that the Galaxy Unpacked event for Galaxy S9 and S9+ is scheduled for February 27th in Barcelona. It’s still not confirmed by Samsung, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now. According to recent leaks, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will carry the model numbers SM-G960 and SM-G965 and are code-named Star 1 and Start 2, respectively.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will feature the same 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch curved-edge Super AMOLED “Infinity” displays that are currently used by the Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. The Galaxy S9 will have 4GB of RAM while the bigger S9+ will have 6GB of RAM according to the report. Both devices will come with the 10-nanometer fabrication techniques adopted by the upcoming Snapdragon 845 processor from Qualcomm and will be similar to the Exynos variants in some regions. Both of the devices will have a nearly identical design to their predecessors as per the rumours.

Both of the flagships will have a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack as well and will have AKG stereo speakers.
