The Samsung Galaxy S9 will arrive with a new finish: Metal 12


Once it has been confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be announced at the Mobile World Congress (February 25 is the most likely date for this to happen), they are publishing information of possible surprises that the high-end smartphone of the firm Korean will offer. An example is the manufacturing material that could be used.

Regarding the processor, there is not much doubt since the Samsung Galaxy S9 will use the  Snapdragon 845 from Qualcomm and the new generation of SoC Exynos (with 4 or 6 GB of RAM depending on the device). To date, there was no doubt that the device would be finished in aluminum, but things could change to be one of the great novelties of the new high-end phone from Samsung. We say this because you could use a new metal alloy called Metal 12.

This is essentially composed of magnesium and aluminum, so it would provide greater resistance to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and, also, it would make it lighter. The truth is that for several years has been speculating with the possibility that high-end phones of the Korean firm give use to magnesium. And it may now be the time chosen once Metal 12 is proven to be effective since the Notebook 9 2018 that has been seen at CES in Las Vegas has been used.

To avoid problems, the Asian company has obtained a patent for the use of Metal 12 in Europe(European Union Intellectual Property Office). In this way, it is ensured that the alloy they have created can be used without problems in their devices such as the aforementioned laptop and, perhaps, in the Samsung Galaxy S9. Nor should we download that other product expected for this year 2018, such as the Smartwatch Gear S4 may be manufactured in this material.

The truth is that the use of Metal 12 would be a success, since the magnesium – known by many as the metal of the future, and that will be combined with graphene in several products – offers a greater resistance than aluminum and, to its time, it is lighter. Of course, there will be if this does not increase the price of the Samsung Galaxy S9 if finally this is used in the housing of the device. The truth is that it is possible that the alloy is part of the product range of which we speak of the Korean firm, but it seems much more likely that its implementation occurs on mobile devices after the summer, so perhaps the Galaxy Note 9 is finally the one chosen for it.
