With only a few weeks to go before the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona opens its doors, we continue to learn new details about the devices prepared by the main smartphone manufacturers, which will not miss the opportunity offered by this fair to announce their new bets in terms of mobile telephony. Nokia is one of those who will not miss your appointment with the MWC, and like last year, could present a good collection of smartphones of all kinds. Apart from the Nokia 9 , one of the main protagonists of your event, it is expected that the Finnish release an improved variant of its current top of the range, the Nokia 8. The news came from German media, and we know that this improved Nokia 8 could come with a surprise under his arm, as is the rebirth of an iconic model of the “old Nokia”.

It is not the first time that HMD Global, the company that took the reins of Nokia a couple of years ago, decides to obtain the rights or reuse one of the old brands of the Finnish company. Maybe that’s why we are not so surprised that the new Nokia 8 could carry the surname “Sirocco” . For those who are not up to date with the old Nokia devices, it is worth mentioning that “Sirocco” was the name given to the model of the image on these lines, a premium version of the Nokia 8800 that, with sapphire crystal, panels molded steel and a leather case included, it became the most expensive Nokia phone of the time. Now, reusing this surname, HMD would have the intention of differentiating the new variant of the terminal , which will probably have more top features than the original model we met in mid-2017.

The new device, appearing under the numbering TA-1005, would have interesting developments with respect to the original edition. One of the most interesting would be the inclusion of a 5.5-inch OLED panel manufactured by LG , thus leaving behind the IPS LCD technology used at first. The rest of the specifications, such as the Snapdragon 835 processor, the 3,250 mAh battery or the dual 12 and 13 megapixel rear camera, would remain intact. But there would be differences beyond the screen, and the most important would be an increase in storage capacity, which grows to 128 GB, and a dual front photographic system. At the moment this is all that is known about the Nokia 8 Sirocco , a curious commitment to revive a model of the past, with today’s technologies. Nokia has already confirmed “incredible things” for the MWC 2018 , so this superpremium model could be only a small part of what the Finnish is preparing for the end of February.
