Asus ZenFone Ares announced with 8GB of RAM, Snapdragon 821 SoC and a 3300mAh battery

Asus has announced the new Zenfone series smartphone Asus ZenFone Ares in the Taiwanese market that comes with features like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). The ASUS Zenfone Ares is available for pre-order in Taiwan via PCHome. It is priced at TWD 9,990 (around $332) with 8GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage capacity and it will also be available for purchase through local retailers in the country. The display of the device has a Tru2life technology to enable VR experiences and it also comes with an oil-repellent coating. No details are available about when it will be available outside the Taiwanese market and with what price tag.

The Asus Zenfone Ares features a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a standard 16:9 aspect ratio and 1440×2560 pixels resolution. It is powered by the 2.35GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 821 64-bit processor with Adreno 530 GPU. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt UFS 2.0 storage capacity with expandable storage via microSD card with up to 2TB additional storage.

It runs on Android Nougat OS with ZenUI on top and might get an upgrade to Oreo but no official confirmation is available for the same. It supports Dual SIMs and comes with additional features like SonicMaster 3.0 Hi-Res Audio 384 kHz audio decoder and supports DTS Headphone with 7.1 channel support for high-quality audio.

It features a single 23-megapixel rear camera sensor with Asus’s high-res PixelMaster 3.0 technology with an f/2.0 aperture and the capability of capturing motion tracking and depth sensing to enable AR effects. It comes with an 8-megapixel front-facing sensor with an f/2.0 aperture as well. It is backed up by a 3300mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 support.

It comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack connectivity options. A fingerprint sensor is available under the home button on the front panel. We have to wait for Asus to announce its global release in the upcoming days. The Zenfone Ares comes with similar features to the last year’s ASUS Zenfone AR.
