OnePlus rolls out OxygenOS 9.0, Android 9.0 Pie based Stable update to OnePlus 6 devices

After testing for so many days, OnePlus has finally started rolling the stable OxygenOS 9.0 Android 9.0 Pie update to the OnePlus 6 devices across the world today. The update comes with a 1521MB size comes with Android Pie goodies and the latest September security update. The company announced the news via their official forum post today. The company is also gearing up to launch the successor to the OnePlus 6 called OnePlus 6T next month which will have upgraded specifications and hardware. The TV promos for the OnePlus 6T are already running in India and are expected to be launched first in the Indian market next month.

The Android Pie update will soon be available for the other OnePlus devices as well including the OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The company is also going to launch the OnePlus 6T smartphone next month which is expected to be available with the OxygenOS 9.0 OS out of the box. OnePus has also confirmed that starting with the Android Pie update, the OxygenOS version number will correspond with the Android version number, which means if Google releases Android 9.1, the OnePlus flagships will receive the OxygenOS 9.1.

To recall, the OnePlus 6 was announced back in May this year with a 6.28-inch Full HD+ 19:9 aspect ratio AMOLED display with DCI-P3 colour gamut, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and 2280 × 1080 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 2.8GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 10nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 630 GPU. It comes with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB (UFS 2.1) storage and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB (UFS 2.1) / 256GB (UFS 2.1) inbuilt storage options. It runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with OxygenOS 5.1 on top and supports Dual SIMs.

It features a dual rear camera with a 16-megapixel camera with dual LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture, 1/2.6″ Sony IMX519 sensor, 1.22μm pixel size, OIS, EIS along with a secondary 20MP camera with Sony IMX376K sensor, f/1.7 aperture, 1.0μm pixel size, 480 fps slo-mo at 720p, 240 fps at 1080p, 4k at 60 fps and comes with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with Sony IMX 371 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 1.0μm pixel size.

It has a 3300mAh battery with Dash Charge (5V – 4A) fast charging. It comes with 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, USB Type-C connectivity options and a fingerprint sensor on the rear side. The device comes with a water-resistant body and supports a 3.5mm audio jack as well. It measures 155.7×75.35×7.75mm and weighs 177 grams.
