Samsung launches Galaxy XCover 5 with Android 11

Samsung has launched the rugged smartphone Galaxy XCover 5 that combines durability with comfort for a product that is sleek and easy to hold, yet rugged enough to withstand tough work environments. The last rugged smartphone launched by the company was Galaxy S7 Active in 2016 and now, this smartphone is the first rugged phone of 2021 by the company after that. This new device comes with enhanced shock absorption technology that can survive drops of up to 1.5 meters.

It comes with IP68-rated dust and water resistance which can be submerged in water for over a meter longer than 30 minutes with complete protection against dust. The device comes with a Glove-Touch feature that enables touch sensitivity allowing its users to operate the device while wearing gloves. this device is protected by the Samsung Knox security platform with true end-to-end protection with security embedded across every single layer of the device, from the chip to the apps.

Galaxy XCover 5 Price

The Galaxy XCover 5 is priced at £329 in the UK where it will be available from 12th March. In Europe, it is priced at €289 and will be available in more markets including Asia and Latin America later.

This smartphone features a 5.3-inch HD+ LCD with Wet Touch, Glove Mode, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection and 1480 x 720  pixels resolution. It is powered by an Exynos 850 octa-core (2GHz Quad + 2GHz Quad) 8nm processor with Mali-G52 GPU. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage capacity that is expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card slot. It runs on Android 11 OS-based Samsung One UI 3.1 and supports Dual SIMs (nano + nano + microSD).

It has a single 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and LED flash and also has a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture. It has a 3000mAh removable battery with 15W fast charging support and connectivity options available are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS + GLONASS and USB Type-C support. It also comes with water and dust-resistant IP68 ratings and has US Military Standard MIL-STD 810G protection. It measures 147.1 x 71.6 x 9.2 mm and weighs 172 grams.
