Last year at MWC 2016, Oppo launched its new Super VOOC Flash charge battery technology and implemented in its future phones and at MWC 2017, the company launched the new dual camera 5X optical zoom technology that it teased few days back and it will be available in its future phones as well. It also cancelled the past rumors of Oppo launching a new device Oppo 5X. This new dual camera 5X optical zoom technology comes with a periscope-style setup that can divert the light 90-degrees to the phone sensor and when you zoom in, the optical image stabilization technology will help keep your captured images steady. Oppo dual camera 5X optical zoom This module is just 5.7mm thick. There is no news, however, when this technology will be available in the future Oppo phones but we can assume that it will be introduced in the company's flagship that will launch this year along with the Super VOOC Flash charge battery technology that can charge the battery of the phone from zero to full in just 15 minutes. "We are definitely putting a stake in the ground in terms of technological breakthroughs for mobile photography. The dual cameras with wide-angled and telephoto lens, together with the periscope-style construction, our image fusion technology and the Optical Image Stabilization, edges mobile photography even closer to what digital cameras are capable of doing. Our 5x Dual-Camera Zoom will again set yet another technological standard that others will emulate," said Sky Li, VP, MD of International Mobile Business & President of Oppo India. The company developed the 5X zoom technology in partnership with the Corephotonics and has licensed the original patent from this company. The company has also confirmed that it has already applied for 50 new patents while working on this project for over a year. We have to wait now for the future announcements from the Chinese company where we may have a hint of availability of this new technology in the upcoming Oppo phones. The company might debut this technology with its upcoming rumored flagship device Oppo find 9 expected to launch this year.
