The Chinese Tech company Huawei recently launched its latest in-house flagship processor, the Kirin 970, the world’s 1st SoC with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), at IFA Berlin. It sports an Octa-Core CPU, 4 Cortex A73 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four ARM Cortex A53 Cores clocked up to 1.8 GHz, similar to the Kirin 960, but this is built on 10nm TSMC process technology compared to 16nm FinFET process in the predecessor and has a faster ARM Mali-G72MP12 GPU. It has support for LTE Cat- 18 offering download speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps. It claims

The company recently teased a few pictures on Twitter, announcing to launch of its next flagship device with the latest Kirin 970 processor which is scheduled to be launched at an event organized in Munich on October 16th.

In terms of the camera department, the device is said to sport a Dual Camera setup, with the Leica branded lens, which claims to take the mobile photography experience to the next level, with support of Laser Autofocus and PDAF coupled with dual LED flash. It also comes with Dual Image Signal Processing and Lowlight enhancement with a 4-hybrid focus for better image clarity in low light conditions. Video recording capabilities up to 4K at 60fps

In terms of the build, this is one of the most highlighted features of the device. This time Huawei has decided to sport its flagship with a bezel-less display with a 2160×1080 panel with a 2:1 screen ratio. In terms of the back, the device sports a metal body and a camera setup with the fingerprint sensor below.

One of the most highlighted features of the device is the AI and security. Huawei said they spent “Billions of Yuans” behind the research for the A. I have for the last 5 years and this time Huawei’s new A. I will improve the user experience drastically. In terms of security, the SoC comes with an integrated Security Engine TEE and SE.

The speaker is placed at the bottom of the device and the device is also said to support a USB Type-C port. There is not much word regarding the price but it is expected to be higher than the Mate 9.
