BlackBerry KEY2 launching on June 7 with dual rear camera and QWERTY keyboard

Canadian Mobile phone manufacturer, BlackBerry, is all set to launch the successor to the last year’s BlackBerry KeyOne that was launched at MWC 2017 event as the company has started teasing the device for June 7 launch. The company will launch their device codenamed ‘Athena’ as Blackberry KEY2 at an official event in New York on June 7th as per Blackberry’s Twitter post. The BlackBerry Key2 has already received the TENAA approval with the model number BBF100-4 and will have a QWERTY keyboard just like the Blackberry KeyOne. The new Blackberry Key2 will carry a dual rear camera as per TENAA leaked images and will have a same 4.5-inch display.

The new Blackberry Key2 according to the TENAA listing, will carry a 4.5-inch 3:2 display with 433 PPI, scratch-resistant glass protection and 1620 x 1080 pixels resolution. It will be powered by the octa core Snapdragon 660 14nm Mobile Platform (Quad 2.2GHz Kryo 260 + Quad 1.8GHz Kryo 260 CPUs) with Adreno 512 GPU and will have 6GB of RAM from 4GB with KeyOne. It will have 64GB internal storage capacity that will be further expandable up to 2TB with microSD card slot. Just like its predecessor, the Key2 will also have a 4-row Physical QWERTY backlit keyboard with capacitive touch. It will runs on the Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box.

The KEY2 will have hybrid dual SIM option. It will carry a dual rear camera with a 12-megapixel camera with dual-tone LED flash along with a secondary 8-megapixel rear camera. It will also carry an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. A fingerprint sensor will be available on the spacebar key on the physical keyboard just like its predecessor. It will have a 3360mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and will carry 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLONASS, NFC, USB 3.1 Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack connectivity options along with FM Radio support as well. It will measure 151.4×71.8×8.5mm and will weight 168 grams.

To recall, the Blackberry KeyOne was launched with a 4.5-inch display with 1620 x 1080 pixels resolution, 433 PPI and a scratch-resistant glass protection, a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 14nm processor with 650MHz Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage capacity, MicroSD card expandable storage up to 2TB, a 4-row physical QWERTY backlit keyboard with capacitive touch, Android 7.1 (Nougat), a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED Flash, Sony IMX378 sensor, 1.55μm pixel size, 1/2.3″ sensor size, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, 4K video recording, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with 1.12µm pixel size and f/2.2 aperture, a 3505mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 that can deliver up to 50% of charge in just 36 minutes, a fingerprint sensor is available on the space bar of the QWERTY keyboard, a 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio support, connectivity options: 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLONASS, NFC and USB 3.1 Type-C. It measures 149.3 x 72.5 x 9.4mm and weights 180 grams.
