Apple launches iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max with 5G connectivity

In a virtual event today, Apple has finally unveiled the new generation of iPhones. The company has launched 4 new iPhones starting from iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The new Apple iPhone 12 Mini is the world’s first smallest 5G smartphone according to Apple as it comes with a smaller 5.4-inch display and is even smaller than the recently launched iPhone SE smartphone. The new iPhones come with new A14 Bionic chips with 5G connectivity, new MagSafe wireless charging, Ceramic Shield, and many other new exciting features.

The iPhone 12 Mini starts at $699 for the base 64GB variant, the iPhone 12 is priced at $799, the iPhone 12 Pro is priced starting at $999 while the bigger iPhone Pro Max starts at $1099. iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 will be available in Black, Blue, (PRODUCT) Red, Grey, and White colours while the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will be available with Gold, Graphite, Silver, and new Pacific Blue colour options. Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro start October 16 and will be available for sale starting October 23. The iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available for pre-orders starting November 6 and released on November 13th.

Talking about the launch of the new iPhones, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Mr. Greg Joswiak said, “The arrival of 5G marks the beginning of a new era for iPhone and we’re thrilled to bring these impressive new capabilities to our customers with iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini, We’re once again pushing the boundaries to deliver incredible computational photography advancements, Super Retina XDR displays, and the biggest leap in durability in iPhone history with the new Ceramic Shield front cover.”

The new iPhone 12 mini has a 5.4-inch OLED 476ppi Super Retina XDR display with up to 1200 nits brightness, Ceramic Shield protection, and 2340×1080 pixels resolution. The iPhone 12 has a 6.1-inch OLED 460ppi Super Retina XDR display with up to 1200 nits brightness, HDR, Dolby Vision, Ceramic Shield protection, and 2532×1170 pixels resolution.

The iPhone 12 Pro comes with a 6.1-inch OLED 460ppi Super Retina XDR display with up to 1200 nits brightness, HDR, Dolby Vision, Ceramic Shield protection, and 2532×1170 pixels resolution lastly, the iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with a 6.7-inch OLED 458ppi Super Retina XDR display with up to 1200 nits brightness, Ceramic Shield protection, and 2778×1284 pixels resolution.

All the new iPhones come with a six-core A14 Bionic 5nm chip with 64-bit architecture and quad-core graphics. The iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 come with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options while the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max come with 128GB base variants and 256GB and 512GB storage options as well.

These new iPhones run on the latest iOS 14 OS, support water and dust-resistant IP68 rating, and come with Dual SIM (nano + eSIM) support. The iPhone 12 and 12 Mini has a dual rear camera system with a 12-megapixel wide-angle (f/1.6) camera, 7P lens, optical image stabilization, True Tone flash, 4K video recording at 60 fps, Slo‑mo 1080p at 240fps, and a 12-megapixel 120° Ultra Wide (f/2.4) secondary camera with 5P lens.

The bigger iPhone 12 Pro has a triple rear camera with a 12-megapixel wide-angle (f/1.6) camera, 7P lens, optical image stabilization, True Tone flash, 4K video recording at 60 fps, Slo‑mo 1080p at 240fps, another 12-megapixel 120° Ultra Wide (f/2.4) secondary camera, 5P lens, and one more 12-megapixel Telephoto camera with f/2.0 aperture with 4x optical zoom range and Digital zoom up to 10x, Night mode portraits enabled by LiDAR Scanner. The iPhone 12 Pro Max, on the other hand, also has a triple rear camera but with bigger lenses.

It has a 12-megapixel wide-angle (f/1.6) main camera with a 7P lens, 1.7μm pixel size, Sensor-shift optical image stabilization, True Tone flash, 4K video recording at 60 fps, Slo‑mo 1080p at 240fps, a 12-megapixel 120° Ultra Wide (f/2.4) secondary camera with 5P lens and another 12-megapixel Telephoto camera with f/2.2 aperture with 2.5x optical zoom in, 2x optical zoom out, 5x optical zoom range and Digital zoom up to 12x, Night mode portraits enabled by LiDAR Scanner.

All iPhones have a 12-megapixel TrueDepth front camera with f/2.2 aperture, Retina Flash, 4K video recording at 60 fps, Slo‑mo 1080p at 120fps, and the TrueDepth camera is also used for FaceID facial recognition. These iPhones come with stereo speakers, 5G (sub‑6 GHz), Gigabit-class LTE, 802.11ax Wi‑Fi 6 with 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC with reader mode, GPS with GLONASS connectivity, and a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery with MagSafe wireless charging, fast charging delivering up to 15 hours of video playback on the iPhone 12 mini, 17 hours of playback on iPhone 12, 17 hours for the iPhone 12 Pro and 20 hours for the bigger iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The iPhone 12 Mini measure 131.5×64.2×7.4mm and weight 133grams, the iPhone 12 measure 146.7×71.5×7.4mm and weight 162grams, the iPhone 12 Pro measure 146.7 ×71.5×7.4mm and weight 187grams and the bigger iPhone 12 Pro Max measure 160.8 ×78.1×7.4mm and weight 226grams.
