Sharp AQUOS R9 and AQUOS Wish4 Announced, Specifications and Price
Japanese Sharp has finally launched the new Sharp AQUOS R9 smartphone in an official press release today along with the new AQUOS Wish4 smartphone. The Sharp AQUOS R9 or AQUOS R9 Pro recently got FCC approval with model HRO00330 and the approval documents confirmed a few specifications.
The Sharp AQUOS R9 features a Leica Camera, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Mobile Platform processor, 12GB of RAM, a Pro IGZO OLED display and a 5,000mAh battery close to the one mentioned by the FCC approval documents. However, the company’s press release hasn’t confirmed anything about the bigger AQUOS R9 Pro smartphone. We may still expect it to be available near its launch in mid-July. Sharp AQUOS R9 Price and Availability
The device will be available in the Summer of 2024 globally starting with the home country Japan in mid-July 2024 as well as Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore followed by the other regions. The pricing details are not listed by the company for this device which is expected to be announced near its launch. It will be available in White and Green colour options.
Sharp AQUOS R9 Specifications
The new Sharp AQUOS R9 features a 6.5-inch full HD+ Pro IGZO OLED display with 1,080 x 2,340 pixels resolution, up to 240Hz variable refresh rate. It is powered by an octa-core 4nm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Mobile Platform (2.8 GHz + 2.6 GHz + 1.9 GHz) processor with Adreno GPU. It supports 12GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage with MicroSD card expandable storage. It runs on the latest Android 14 OS out of the box and supports Dual-SIMs (nanoSIM＋eSIM). It has a recycled aluminum frame design.
The Aquos R9 features a dual Leica AG rear camera with a 50.3-megapixel CMOS main camera that has an f/1.9 aperture, 84° wide-angle, 23mm focal length, OIS, 1/1.55-inch and Leica Hektor along with a secondary 50.3-megapixel CMOS camera with f/2.2 aperture, 122° ultra wide angle, 13mm focal length. It also has a 50.3-megapixel CMOS front camera with f/2.2 aperture, 84° wide-angle; 23mm focal length.
It has a 5,000mAh (standard) built-in battery and the connectivity options available are 5G, WiFi IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, NFC, Bluetooth v5.4 and Osaifu-Keitai mobile payments. The device is IPX5/IPX8/IP6X/MIL-STD-810G US Military standards certified making it waterproof up to 1.5m deep for 30 minutes, dust-proof and shock resistance up to 1.22m. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor available on the power button. The device has larger stereo speakers with Dolby, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos audio support. Sharp AQUOS Wish4 Price
The Sharp AQUOS Wish4 price is also not revealed by the company but will be available near its launch. The device will be available in early July 2024 for the Japanese market followed by Taiwan and Singapore.

The new Sharp AQUOS Wish4 is made with 60% recycled plastic materials and the side keys are made of 100% recycled aluminum. As per Sharp, it has low-VOC paint on the main unit that reduces volatile organic compound content, a cause of air pollution. It features a 6.6-inch HD+ LCD with 720 x 1,612 pixels resolution and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 (2.2-GHz×2 + 2-GHz×6) processor. It comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. It runs on the Android 14 OS out of the box.
It has a single 50.1-megapixel rear CMOS camera with AQUOS ProPix lite image quality engine, F1.8 aperture, 79° wide angle and 25mm focal length. It has an 8-megapixel front CMOS camera with F2.0 aperture, 78° ultra-wide angle lens, and 26mm focal length. It has a 5,000mAh standard built-in battery with up to 23 hours on standby.
Connectivity options available are WiFi IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.3 and NFC. The device is IPX5/IPX8/IP6X/MIL-STD-810H certified making it water, dust and shock resistant. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner mounted on the power button. It also has the Osaifu-Keitai app.
