Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max with 5020mAh batteries and Snapdragon 720G

Chinese Xiaomi has just launched the much-awaited Redmi series smartphones Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max. Both the new devices come with a bigger battery and are powered by the Snapdragon gaming processor SD 720G. The Redmi Note 9 Pro is priced at Rs. 12,999 (around $174) for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version and Rs. 15,999 (around $215) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage variant. It will be available from Amazon.in, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores starting from 17th March. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is priced at Rs. 14,999 ($201) for the 6GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage variant, Rs. 16,999 ($228) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, while the top-end 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 18999 ($255). It will be available from Amazon India website, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores starting from March 25th.

Both the devices come with similar specifications with some differences like storage, RAM and camera specifications. Both feature a 6.67-inch 20:9 Full HD+ LCD DotDisplay with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and 2400  × 1080 pixels resolution. These are powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 720G 8nm Mobile Platform (Dual 2.3GHz Kryo 465 A76 + Hexa 1.8GHz Kryo 465 A55 CPUs) with Adreno 618 GPU. These come with 6GB / 4GB LPPDDR4x RAM with 64GB (UFS 2.1) inbuilt storage, 6GB / 8GB (LPPDDR4x) RAM with 128GB (UFS 2.1) inbuilt storage which is further expandable up to 256GB with the help of a microSD card slot. These phones come with Dual SIM (nano + nano + microSD) support and run on the Android 10 OS with MIUI 11 out of the box.

These devices have quad-camera setup on the rear side with Redmi Note 9 Pro Max having a 64-megapixel Samsung GW1 main sensor with f/1.89 aperture, whereas the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GM2 main camera with f/1.79 aperture. The cameras support PDAF, EIS, 0.8μm pixel size, LED flash, EIS features while other cameras include an 8-megapixel 120° ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel 2cm macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with these camera supporting 4k 30 fps video recording as well. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max comes with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera while the Redmi Note 9 Pro features a 16-megapixel front camera.

There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on these devices along with an infrared sensor. Both come with a 5020mAh battery with 18W fast charging for Redmi Note 9 Pro and 33W fast charging for the Note 9 Pro Max smartphones. Both come with connectivity options like Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz) 2 x 2 MIMO, VoWiFi, Bluetooth 5, GPS, NavIC, USB Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and dual microphones. These come with splash-proof P2i coating. Both measure 165.7×76.6×8.8mm and a weight of 209 grams.
