Samsung announces Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoCs

In an official unpacked event of Samsung, the company finally announced the new Flip and Fold smartphones Galaxy Z Flip4 and the Galaxy Z Fold4. The Galaxy Z Flip4 has a dual display with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex main display and a 1.9-inch external/cover Super AMOLED display that can show the notifications and messages without actually opening the phone. The Galaxy Z Fold4 also has a dual display with a 7.6-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display. The Galaxy Z Flip4 is priced at US$999.99 for the 128GB storage variant, US$1099.98 for the 256GB storage variant and US$1179.99 for the 512GB variant. The Galaxy Z Fold4 is priced at US$1799.99 for a 256GB variant, US$2009.98 for a 512GB variant and $2249.98 for a 1TB storage variant. Both of the devices will go on sale on August 26 in select countries.

The Galaxy Z Flip4 features a 6.7-inch FULL HD+ 21.9:9 Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display with 2640 x 1080 pixels resolution, 1~120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 425ppi and an external display with a 1.9-inch Super AMOLED display with 512 x 260 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 4nm Mobile Platform with up to 3.2GHz and Adreno next-gen GPU and comes with different variants that include 8GB of RAM with 128GB / 256GB / 512GB UFS 3.1 storage options. It runs on Android 12 with One UI 4.1 on top and supports One eSIM and one Nano SIM. It has a dual rear camera with a 12-megapixel wide (f/1.8, 1.8 μm, OIS) lens and a 12-megapixel Ultra-Wide (f/2.2, 123° 1.12 μm) lens with video support Up to 4K 60fps.

It also has a front-facing 10-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture. It has a 3700mAh battery with 25w fast charging, 15W Qi wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging support. Connectivity options available are 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 ax (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2 LE, USB Type-C, NFC and GPS. The device is water resistant with IPX8 certification and comes with other features like USB Type-C audio, stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos. It measures 84.9 x 71.9 x 17.1 mm when folded and 165.2 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm when unfolded. It weighs 187 grams.

The Galaxy Z Fold4 features a 7.6-inch QXGA+ 21.6:18 Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with 2176 x 1812 pixels resolution, 374ppi, 1~120Hz adaptive refresh rate and HDR10+. It also has a secondary display that comes with a 6.2-inch 23.1:9 HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Cover with 2316 x 904 pixels resolution, 387ppi, 48~120Hz adaptive refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is also powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 4nm Mobile Platform with Up to 3.2GHz and Adreno next-gen GPU. It comes with 12GB of RAM with 256GB / 512GB / 1TB (UFS 3.1) storage options. It also runs on the Android 12L with One UI 4.1.1 on top and supports Dual SIM (nano + nano) and one eSIM.

It comes with a triple rear camera with a 50-megapixel (f/1.8, OIS, Dual Pixel AF) main camera, 12-megapixel Ultrawide (f/2.2, 1.12 μm) camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto (f/2.4 1.0 μm, OIS, PDAF, 3x optical zoom) lens with 30X space zoom. It also has a dual front camera with a 10-megapixel camera with 1.22 μm, f/2.2 and a 4-megapixel under display (f/1.8, 2.0μm, FOV: 80˚) camera. It comes with stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports water-resistant IPX8 certification. It has a 4400mAh battery with 25W wired and 15W wireless (WPC and PMA) charging, 4.5W reverse wireless charging and connectivity options available are 5G, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 6E (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2 LE, GPS with GLONASS, USB Type-C and NFC. It measures 155.1 x 67.1 x 15.8 mm when folded and 155.1 x 130.1 x 6.3 mm when unfolded. It weighs 254 grams.
