OnePlus has finally revealed the release date of the upcoming flagship OnePlus 5 smartphone via its official landing page that it will be launched on June 20th in an official event. This year’s OnePlus flagship will be special as this new OnePlus 5 is going to launch with 8GB of RAM along with the Snapdragon 835 processor making it the ‘true beast’ of all time. The official Amazon.in teaser page for the device reveals 8GB of RAM and SD835 and was first spotted by the leakster @evleaks. The source code from the Amazon India listing comes with the description of the device as, “OnePlus 5 powered by 2.35GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor and 8GB of RAM will release on 22nd June, 2017 as an exclusive at Amazon.in” that confirms the 8GB of RAM option.
The OnePlus 5 was spotted listed at AnTuTu recently with model number OnePlus A5000 and comes with a Full-HD display having 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. It is powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC with Adreno 540 GPU. It runs on the Android 7.1.1 OS out of the box and comes with 6GB of RAM with 64GB of inbuilt storage capacity. According to the AnTuTu listing, it has a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel front facing camera. No other details about the device are listed at AnTuTu benchmark listing. So the device have two variants with 6GB and 8GB of RAM options with 8GB RAM variant supporting 128GB of inbuilt storage capacity.
The device was spotted listed at Gearbest in the past with a 5.5 inch QHD 2K display with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 2.35GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor that comes with Adreno 540 GPU. It has 8GB of RAM and comes with 64GB inbuilt storage capacity that will be expandable via MicroSD card with up to 128 GB storage. It runs on the Android 7.1 Nougat OS out of the box and will also support Dual-SIMs (nano-SIM + nano-SIM). The Gearbest listing further confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will feature a 23-megapixel rear camera and will also have a 16-megapixel front facing selfie camera.
It is expected to be backed up by a 3600 mAh battery with Dash Charge 2.0. support but according to the Gearbest listing, it will have a non-removable 4000 mAh battery instead. It will support connectivity options like 4G LTE with VoLTE, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi and options. It will have sensors like Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor, E-Compass, Gyroscope, Hall Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Touch Sensor and will also have a fingerprint scanner on the physical home button on front.
