After Samsung, Huawei has announced a new foldable smartphone Mate X that not only comes with 5G capabilities but can also be folded into an 8-inch tablet. It has a Falcon Wing design with a stretchable hinge for a smooth and flat finish on both sides. It comes with an NM Card slot and comes with the world’s first 55W (10V/4A) HUAWEI SuperCharge fast charging technology that lets its users charge the phone’s 4500mAh battery from 0 to 85% in just 30 minutes. It is priced at 2299 Euros (around $2607) and will be available for sale starting in mid-2019 with an Interstellar Blue colour option in Europe. No details are available when it will be available in more regions.

The Huawei Mate X features a 6.6-inch 19.5:9 OLED display when folded with 2480 x 1148 pixels resolution, a 6.38-inch OLED 25:9 display with 2480 x 892 pixels resolution as a back panel and an 8-inch OLED 8:7.1 display with 2480 x 2200 pixels resolution when unfolded.
It is powered by a HUAWEI Kirin 980 (2 x Cortex A76 2.6 GHz + 2 x Cortex A76 1.92 GHz + 4 x Cortex A55 1.8 GHz) processor with 720 MHz ARM Mali-G76MP10 GPU, Balong 5000 5G modem. It comes with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 512GB of inbuilt storage capacity that is expandable up to 256GB with an NM card slot. It runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) with EMUI 9.1.1 on top and supports Hybrid Dual SIM slots (nano + nano / NM card).
It features a triple rear camera with a 40-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture a 16-megapixel Ultra Wide Angle lens, and an 8-megapixel Telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. It has a 4500 mAh battery with 55W SuperCharge that lets you charge the phone’s 4500mAh battery from 0 to 85% in 30 minutes and comes with connectivity options such as 5G Multi-mode, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz) (wave2), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS (L1 + L5 dual band), NFC, USB Type-C (GEN1). It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and comes with dual Speakers. It measures 161.3 x 78.3 (146.2 unfolded) x 5.4-11mm and weighs 295 grams.
