Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite launched in India

Xiaomi has launched two new smartphones today in India in the new Redmi “Y” series known as Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite. Both the device comes with affordable price tags and comes with entry-level processors. Both runs on the MIUI 8 and are upgradable to MIUI 9. The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is priced at Rs. 8,999 for 3GB RAM + 32GB inbuilt storage variant and Rs. 10,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage variant. The Redmi Y1 Lite is priced at Rs. 6999 and both the devices will be available with Gold and Dark Gray color options. Both will be available in India exclusively via Amazon India and Mi online store. Both of them will also be available via Mi Home and offline stores starting November 8th.

The Redmi Y1 features a brushed metal-like finish on the rear side and comes with an aluminium alloy frame. It has a 5.5-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display with 1280 x 720 pixels fresolution, 450 nits brightness, 1000: 1 Contrast ratio, 70% NTSC color gamut, Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 435 Mobile Platform with Adreno 505 GPU and comes with 3GB/4GB of RAM with 32GB/64GB of internal storage capacity with MicroSD card expandable storage up to 128GB. It runs on the Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) with MIUI 8 and is also upgradable to MIUI 9. It also supports Dual SIMs.

It features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and comes with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash, OmniVision sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 76.4-degree wide-angle lens. It has a 3080mAh battery and comes with connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLOASS and also comes with fingerprint sensor on the rear side and has an infrared sensor as well. It measures 153× 76.2 × 7.7mm and weights 153 grams.

The Redmi Y1 Lite features a 5.5-inch HD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, 450 nits brightness, 1000: 1 Contrast ratio, 70% NTSC color gamut, Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a 1.4GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 Mobile Platform with Adreno 308 GPU. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage that is expandable up to 128GB with microSD card. It runs on the Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) with MIUI 8 and is also upgradable to MIUI 9. It also supports Dual SIMs. It features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. It comes with a same 3080mAh battery and supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLONASS and comes with an infrared sensor but it doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner. It measures 153× 76.2 × 7.55mm and weights 150 grams.
