Xiaomi 31st May event announced, Xiaomi Mi8 is coming

Chinese Xiaomi has just announced via a forum post that it is holding an official event in China on 31st May where the company is going to launch its new flagship smartphone Xiaomi Mi 8 that will be the successor to the last year’s Xiaomi Mi 7 smartphone. The Xiaomi Mi 8 is expected to launch with new MIUI 10 with Android Oreo and will have an on screen fingerprint scanner. The Chinese giant is also expected to launch some other products as the Xiaomi forum’s Super moderator posted, “We’re happy to announce that we’ll be launching not just one exciting new product, but MANY exciting new products! Which one are you looking forward to the most?“. Xiaomi also shared via a Twitter post that the Xiaomi Mi8 is a nod to their 8th anniversary on 31 May.

Talking about the flagship Xiaomi Mi 8, then according to Xiaomi it will be the most anticipated Xiaomi flagship of the year. It will not only have the under-screen fingerprint scanner but will also support face recognition feature. The new flagship will have a notch display just like the iPhone X as per rumors and it will have an OLED display. The new MI8 will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset that comes with the Adreno 630 GPU. It is rumored to launch with 6GB/8GB of RAM along with 256GB of inbuilt storage or 512GB may be as well. It will run on Android 8.1 Oreo based MIUI 9 or MIUI 10 and will definitely have Dual SIM option.

The new Xiaomi Mi8 will carry a bigger battery this time from its predecessor and will have connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS and USB Type-C. The rumors also hints that the 6GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage Mi 8 variant will be available for CNY2,799 (around $440), while the top-end variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage might be available priced at CNY3,199 (around $503), we have to wait for the official confirmation though. Let’s wait for the official Xiaomi event on 31st May in Shenzhen, China. Till then, stay tuned.
